​Soute is an open-plan space for workshops, cooking classes, corporate events, parties, food jams, product launches, weddings and photoshoots. The name SOUTE was inspired by the location, Salt River, and the meaning of the word in Afrikaaps, "watch out! someone's coming".

The interiors are the result of the vision of a very special person, Doreen (Jade's mama!). ​From its inception, Soute's aim was to provide flexible and affordable rental options for private and corporate events & entrepreneurs. For 8 years, we jammed in the wonderful Gardens & Woodstock venues and set up mobile kitchens, until SOUTE STUDIO was realised as a home away from home in August 2018.

Join a Food Jams cooking class at Soute Studio, in Cape Town, where food, fun, and friends come together in a social cooking experience like no other! Whether you’re a solo traveller, couple, or group of friends, you’ll cook up a storm with our themed Social Food Jams. Each team receives a unique recipe pack and fresh ingredients, with the freedom to follow the recipe or freestyle your creation. With plenty of time to cook, sip, and socialise, this is a cooking class meets dinner party—where great food and great company make for an unforgettable night!

South African Culinary Adventure 

Forage Feast 

Join a Food Jams Foraged Feast and step into nature’s pantry for a cooking experience rooted in the wild beauty of Cape Town! Explore the local landscape with basket in hand, foraging for indigenous ingredients that will be transformed into a multi-course culinary adventure. Guided by our expert team, you’ll cook up innovative dishes like sous vide springbok with rooibos jus, Cape Malay-spiced fish, and amadumbe gnocchi with burnt butter and sage. With a menu inspired by local terroir and time to cook, connect, and create, this is more than a cooking class—it’s a feast of flavour, culture, and community.
